"Revit is not responding." Again.

Rudick Innovation & Technology is a managed IT provider built for architecture firms in Dallas, Houston, and Austin.

We fix the two things that quietly cost your studio the most billable hours: Revit that will not stay up, and remote or site work that crawls. Book a call with an engineer who knows what a central model is.

What architecture firms tell us first

Two problems, and neither one is really about Revit.

These are the two issues architecture firms raise on almost every first call. Both have causes that sit underneath the software, which is why reinstalling never fixes them for long.

Revit keeps crashing, or hangs on “not responding”

⚠Revit is not responding. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem.

Why it keeps happening

Most repeat crashes are not Revit's fault. They trace back to a workstation specced like a general office PC, a central model that has outgrown the network path between it and your team, corrupt families and links carried forward from an old project, and worksharing settings nobody has reviewed since the office template was built. A reinstall clears none of that, so the crash comes back on Thursday.

What Rudick does about it

  • Spec and build workstations around your actual model sizes and render workload, not a vendor's published minimum
  • Audit central models, linked files, and families for the corruption that produces repeat crashes
  • Tune worksharing, local file creation, and sync behavior so syncs stop timing out mid save
  • Read journal files and crash logs to find the pattern, so we fix the cause instead of the symptom
  • Keep Autodesk versions, hotfixes, and add-ins identical across every machine in the studio

Working from home or a site visit is painfully slow

⚠Opening model... 4 min 12 sec elapsed. Synchronizing with central...

Why it keeps happening

Opening a model over a standard VPN means dragging gigabytes across a home internet connection and back. VPN was designed for email and small file access, not for a central model that grew past 900 megabytes two phases ago. The same thing happens on a site visit, only with worse signal and a deadline attached.

What Rudick does about it

  • Move heavy model work off the VPN using remote workstation sessions, so only the screen image travels
  • Right size the office internet, firewall, and Wi-Fi, so the bottleneck stops being your own front door
  • Set up cloud worksharing where the project and the client actually allow it
  • Give site visits reliable connectivity and secure access from a laptop or tablet
  • Measure performance from the user's side, so “it feels slow” becomes a number we can act on
The problem with general IT support

Most IT providers treat a design studio like an insurance agency.

The hardware looks similar. The workload is not. Here is where the difference shows up on an ordinary Tuesday.

A general IT providerReboots the machine, closes the ticket, and moves on.
RudickPulls the journal file, identifies whether it was the model, an add-in, or the hardware, and removes the cause so it does not return on Thursday.

A general IT providerOrders whatever is on the standard business laptop list.
RudickSpecs CPU, GPU, RAM, and storage against your real model sizes and rendering load, then images and delivers them ready to work.

RudickPuts the heavy work next to the data with remote sessions, so a 900 megabyte central model never has to travel over a home connection.
Your stack, already understood

We do not need you to explain what worksharing is.

Rudick supports and optimizes more than 100 applications used across AEC firms. The person who answers your call already knows why the file is that large and why the render has to finish tonight.

Bring us your worst Revit week. We will tell you what is causing it.

Tell us what is crashing, how big your models have gotten, and how your team works from home. You will leave the call knowing what is actually causing it and what we would fix first, whether you hire us or not.

If the calendar does not load, open the booking page in a new tab or call (469) 916-9362.

Before you book

Questions architecture firms ask us first.

Can you actually fix Revit crashes, or just reinstall it?

We fix causes. That means reading journal files, auditing the central model and its links, checking worksharing settings, and confirming the workstation matches the workload. Reinstalling is what you do when you do not know which of those it is.

Do we have to move to the cloud?

No. Cloud worksharing fits some projects and some clients, and it is the wrong answer for others. We will tell you which yours is before you spend money on it.

Will you work with our existing Autodesk subscriptions and vendors?

Yes. License and subscription management is part of the agreement, along with coordinating your internet, hardware, and software vendors so your principals stop chasing them.

What actually happens on the call?

We ask about your projects, your models, your workstations, and where the day gets lost. You get a straight read on what is putting your deadlines at risk and what we would address first. There is no cost and no obligation.
